About 20 years ago we began our purebred Black Angus cow herd. Our goal was to raise the bulls that we needed for our commercial cows rather than having to buy replacements year after year. Since then we have begun selling bulls to many commercial cattle operations in Southwestern Saskatchewan and Southeastern Alberta. Good feet and legs and moderate size are a high priorities in our purebred cows. They are raised in the same harsh ranch conditions as the commercial herd. One of our main focuses now is raising easy calving bulls to use on replacement heifers. These bulls are bred to be long, smooth through the head and shoulders and have low birth weights as well as deliver exceptional performance once the calf is on the ground. Our other bloodlines produce calves with more moderate birth weights and high performance when it comes to rate of gain, muscling and longevity. |

Our commercial cow herd is Black Angus with some cross-bred influence.
We breed them primarily to our own home raised purebred bulls. We
believe in moderately sized, low maintenance type of cattle.
Ability to travel is a high priority as many of our pastures are several
sections in size. These girls pretty much take care of themselves during calving time which starts for us about April 1st. Their calves are weaned late in the fall and are then backgrounded to be sold in the spring or fattened. Our calves have performed very well for us in the feedlot and slaughter. |
